A Friends of Nursing Excellence Award is one of the highest honors a Duke Nurse can receive.
Every year, hundreds of nurses are nominated for their exemplary professional practice by patients, patient families and colleagues.  The DHIP congratulates the following nurses for receiving this top award:

Mary Ann & Robert H. Peter Award for Excellence in Nursing Practice

  • Launa Macchia, RN Clinical Nurse III -- Lactation Educator Duke Children’s Primary Care -
    North Roxboro Street Clinic

Terry L. Johnson Award for Excellence in Pediatric Nursing

  • Danielle Wolf, BSN, RN Clinical Nurse III Duke Children’s Primary Care -  North Roxboro Street Clinic

Winners of 36 awards are selected by committees of their peers.  Excellence Award recipients are recognized at the annual Friends of Nursing Gala, where they are celebrated by Duke leaders, colleagues, friends and family.

Excellence Award winners are honored individually on stage and are featured in a souvenir program, and receive a trophy, a gold pin and a $1,000 education stipend.

Congratulations Launa and Danielle!
